Storytelling with The Seanachai

{Review} Topics:

Storytelling is an art I enjoy and admire. It has more depth than just reading and more life than a history lesson. I love stories enough to enjoy them no matter how they are told, but when I come across someone with the storytelling gift, I cannot help but give my rapt attention. It seems a rare commodity in this present age, the telling of stories. You can watch a dramatization of a story, or read it, but rarely do you just hear them. With the explosion of podcasting I have been enthused about the potential for storytelling to gain a new voice and an audience. Welcome The Seanachai (sha na key)!

The latest story, How to Succeed in Evil, is by far my favorite. Maybe it’s the setting; maybe it’s the perspective; maybe it’s the way the story is told. I listened to this on the way home, then played it for my wife, and I will keep it around to share with others. If I ever get my podcast idea in production this is what I would want mine to sound like. The sound effects are good, a nice flavoring to the story. The reading and acting are engaging. They are short, which can be nice unless you really want more.

Hopefully The Seanachai will be the harbinger of the storytelling podcasts. It has set an example for me.
