Daylight Savings Time
Some jackass thought it was a good idea to change the time while I was sleeping (or supposed to be sleeping). Those clocks who are disobediantly slaves to the Uniform Time Act changed themselves, happy and content to do what they thought was their job, but my happily obedient clocks reported the real time as I was going to sleep, and it read 2 AM. When I awoke the same clocks were rewarded with much praise, but then we both had to give in and resign ourselves to a grumpy attitude all day, and I shifted their display by one hour; my poor and faithful clocks, who serve me well were forced to observe the most heinous of laws to a Night Owl.
My precious nights have now been stripped away from me. I feel more alive in the dead of night than I do any time during the day, and now I have to stay up even later to enjoy that. Not only do I naturally struggle with a reasonable bedtime, I now have to suffer the blow of an artificially adjusted sunset all so I can conserver more energy and more daylight hours, daylight hours I don't like mind you. Waking up this morning, I should have still had an hour to get ready for church, for such said my faithful alarm clock, but due to the invisible and artificial shift in time we were now hopelessly late, as happens so many years. The result is a tired and pissed of Seth who will spend no less than a week adjusting to the new schedule, and won't ever actually adjust, merely cope.
Who do I have to blame? I thought it was Ben Franklin, but according to Wikiedia he's not to blame at all. In fact, I owe him an apology, but since he is an insufferable morning person I don't feel inclined to offer it to him. Besides, he dead. As it turns out Daylight Savings Time has a long and interesting history. I was quite amazed to see how many times it has come and gone, and to read a few of the arguments for and against it. Myself, I will always be against it. I now know who is at fault: my own State. If my State were to pass a law stating it would not observe DST I could be happy, and lets face it, since it rains most of the time here anyway, why should people want more of that? They complain about it enough already. Just go to bed, and let us Insomniac Night Owls enjoy our natural habitat. We're an endangered species you know.
